Ingredients:
Broken wheat - 200gm
barley - 3 tbsp
channa dal - 100gm
mutton - 500gm
ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
readymade haleem masala - 2-3 tbsp
(or if haleem masala not available
use chilli powder - 2tsp
coriander powder - 2tsp
cumin powder - 1tsp
turmeric - 1/2 tsp
chaat masala - 1tsp)
garam masala - 1 tsp
Onion - 200 gm (for browning)
enough oil for browning
oil/ghee - 2 tbsp (optional)
salt - to taste.
Garnish with ginger julienne, brown onion, chopped coriander leaves and lime wedges and a dash of garam masala.
Serves - 6.
Steps to follow:
Soak the broken wheat, channa dal and barley for at least 1-2 hours.
Pressure cook the wheat,barley and channa dal for atleast 45 minutes in a low flame wth enough water 8-10 cups of water.
Open and add salt to taste, mash well.
Meanwhile cook the mutton with haleem masala and ginger garlic paste, salt and with 4-5 cups of water.Cook the mutton for at least 20 minutes or until very soft..Open and remove the bones of the mutton pieces and keep the mutton aside.
Now mix the cooked mashed wheat mixture with mutton soup.
Blend it nicely.
Then add the cooked shredded mutton pieces and mix well. Add garam masala and again mix well.
Now the delicious haleem is ready. See here, I didn;t use oil or ghee.It is your option.
Transfer hot haleem to a plate or bowl garnish with ginger julienne, brown onion, chopped coriander leaves,green chillies and lime wedges and a dash of garam masala.
Enjoy the Delicious Haleem ! Wow! It tastes Awesome!
